Rule 7: Knowledge

The Knowledge Rule:  Train and Develop Skills and Expertise

Once an organization has achieved continuity, coherence, and alignment in its priorities, processes, and technologies, it needs to enable its workforce with the knowledge they need to succeed.

Most enterprises score relatively admirably in this realm.  This is probably given that if they didn’t, assets would be destroyed or stolen, managers and owners would go to jail or be sued, and customers and co-workers would be injured or worse.

Nevertheless, it is essential to Enterprise Performance Management success to ensure that each workforce member, as relevant to their position within their Employee Lifecycle, receive the skill and competency training and development they need to respond successfully to “How Do I Succeed?”

Workforce members also need to have job-appropriate, and essentially risk-less, learning opportunities in which to transform received knowledge into applied expertise: otherwise known as “Experience”.
